The editor is. The platform is yours to run.

The editor you design in is, genuinely open source. The portal around it runs on a source-available license instead, and the difference is worth being precise about.

The editor is. The platform is yours to run.

Two licenses, on purpose

The editor, the actual design and video studio you work in, is licensed: real, OSI-recognized open source. The portal around it (accounts, community, billing) runs under a source-available license instead, which is a different thing.

What source-available actually allows

Source-available means you can read the code, run it, and self-host it, free, for individuals and for companies under one million dollars in annual revenue. What it forbids is narrow: reselling it, rebranding it, or running it as a competing service.

  • The editor:, genuinely open source, no restrictions
  • The platform: source-available, free to self-host
  • The super-admin layer stays private and always will

We haven't opened the repositories yet. That's coming as we head toward public alpha in 2026, under these same terms.
